"Love makes the world go round? Not at all. Whiskey makes it go round twice as fast."
Confused
Yesterday, as per request of my boss, I went to work at the office. We just worked half-day and most of it the time was spent with him narrating his life to me. Surprisingly, I didn't get bored, I just got envious of him. It's like he had all the blessings God can give and yet he didn't even asked for it unlike other people who would kill to have the life he's living right now. He wasn't trying hard, it's just like everything fell into his lap and viola...now, he's the Managing Partner of of the 5th biggest auditing firm in the country. I wish life would be that easy for me.
While we were working he told me he wishes for me to stay longer in the company. I guess he's afraid I might quit work since he didn't grant my wish of a salary raise. I just laughed when he said that 'coz I don't know what to say. Actually, he's a good boss, he's very hardworking, kind, and very smart. The only thing I didn't like about him was whenever he would ask me to go to the office on Saturdays and he won't come. Now, I can see he's trying not to do that to me again 'coz he realized how big of a trouble it is for me to go to the office which is like 2 hours away from our house. He also asked if I was enjoying my work. I said it's fine, it's the salary that makes me wanna quit work...hehe. I told him I deserve a raise. I acccepted the job eventhough it offered a less salary and yet, I was never a slacker (well, at least whenever he's around). For six months, I've never been late, never been absent, never received any memo from the HR. He promised to see what he can do about it. Thank God! Those were the words I've been waiting to hear. I'm sure he can do something about it, he's practically a god in that company. He also treat me to lunch together with another assistant. I guess that's my "consuelo de bobo" for coming to work on a Saturday. We ate at Makati Shangri-La...in a fine-dining restaurant! Man, I think that's the most expensive meal I ever ate. I saw the bill and I almost felt dizzy, P4,500 for a lunch for three. Wow! I almost wished he just gave us the money instead. I thought of it as a sort of "suhol" since he was trying to convince me to stay and all. Well, all I can say is...one time big time is not enough...hehe.
