Summer Fun
I have been out-of-town for two weekends now. Smiley Man....that was fun. Last weekend we went to Batangas together with our Tax Department.  We stayed overnight. During the day we went swimming and played poker. I won almost 400bucks! kaching! kaching! haha. I never thought I'm gonna be good in gambling, though that's not a skill I should be proud of.

After dinner, everyone gathered around the Smileyvideoke machine, singing while drinking beer, Chivas Regal and Black Label....Wow! those are the names I shall never forget as long as I live. I got drunk as hell! Our evening activities include: singing, dancing, throwing bottles in the air, bathing in beer, cursing, sleeping on the floor, throwing-up, and others I dare not mention (and can't remember either). Everyone got drunk! Even the most behaved lawyer of the Tax Dept. got drunk and started cursing.... Haaaaaaaaaaaay...... these are the moments that made me thankful I joined the outing. haha.

This weekend we went to Club Manila East and had our Admin Teambuilding. That was so exhausting. Unlike the weekend before that, where we just got lazy under the sun, this time, we have an itinerary to follow and lectures to listen to. The day was full of activities. It was fun and I think everyone got to know each other a little better after that tiring day.

In the evening of course, the tradition of singing karaokes and getting drunk were strictly observed by the Admin Dept. haha. Again, people started dancing to whatever song they hear and everybody was singing though there was only one mic.  The  Smiley top pick song for the evening was "Alimango" (Crabs) by Parokya ni Edgar which was a very senseless song about "big crabs".....as to where, why and how...we don't know and that will remain a big mystery to us. Eventually, people gave in to exhaustion and all went to bed with smile on their faces Smiley some even talking....haha.

Some started early and did some kayaking and swimming. As for me, I woke up late and almost stayed in bed the whole day if not for an officemate who dragged me out of the room to join them swimming. I got bruises because people kept dragging me to join them in their water games eventhough I told them I can't swim. I was practically clinging arms and feet on the railways but these people just won't give up.. Smiley

Overall, those are two of my most enjoyable summer weekends.

Nuff said....back to work! Smiley

Wallowing
A friend just broke up with her BF and she's been wallowing nonstop for two weeks now. At first, I was very understanding and sympathetic...or at least I try to be sympathetic since I can't hardly remember when was the last time I got into a relationship, but then, days passed and she seems to get worst everyday. It's like every song she hears reminds her of her misery. She can't hardly eat, she's always crying and she's soooooooooo not fun to be with nowadays. Before the break up, she was such a fun person to be with. She's so bubbly and she has a great sense of humor. We crack a lot of jokes, we eat a lot and we always made fun of other people. I know the last one is not a very good past time...but heck, it was fun!

I wish this phase of her life would end soon...Love Sucks!!! look at what you've done to my friend. You've turned her into this sad, lonely, bitter, cry baby, anorexic person. She's been on and on about her sad lovestory and how she would end up an old maid since the love of her life left her. And I've been very consistent and on and on about how she should not let this sadness take over her. SmileyIt's like a line I've memorized in giving advices for these lovefools. They wouldn't listen to you anyways. It's like they're all masochist and they can't seem to get enough suffering from their partners.  I'm not saying they should easily give-up on their relationship, it's just that she's never been happy with this guy anyway, plus the guy is already rejecting her! I don't want her to lose every inch of dignity she has, running after this jerk. It's like going in a battle knowing 100% you won't win. He's not just worth the time and effort. She should get over him SOON!!! ...before I lose my patience with her. Smiley

SUMMER VACATION
SmileyYAHOO!!! The semester is finally over! I was able to pass all my school requirements last Saturday....man, that felt so good! as if a huge boulder has been lifted off my chest...me and my classmates and also my proffesor went drinking after the last submission. Cool Prof! He even treat us to coffee afterwards...I just hope he's also that generous when it comes to giving grades.

Now I can finally  relax and enjoy the summer... SmileyMy friends and I are actually planning to go to Mindoro and get some tan. I'm excited!

Here in the office it's quite the opposite. People especially the auditors are cramming and working their ass off finishing financial statements and ITR reports. Thank God, I've never been fond of numbers which led me to a liberal arts course...haha.

People, don't forget to pay your taxes, the deadline is on the 17th!

Memories of Memoirs
Saw the movie last Sunday. It was just "OK". I was a little disappointed I admit because the movie was a bit dragging. The actors are great though especially the young characters.  Gong  Li is gorgeous  even with unruly  hair, Michelle Yeoh is a good actress but she looks old. I was fascinated by the fan dance. The ladies move very gracefully. Ken Watanabe and the actor who played Nobu are also very good. Another thing, some characters are not faithful to the book. I was expecting young Pumpkin to be chubby as the book implies but instead, young Sayuri has a more rounded face than her. I didn't imagine Dr.Crab to be like that. I was expecting a plump, short man who looks like a maniac but instead, they got an old man who (for me) looks harmless. Even the friend of Mameha is different from how the book described her. I imagine her to be a tall woman who has masculine features. 'nuf said.

Memoirs of a Geisha
I'm so excited about this film. I just finished reading the novel by Arthur Golden. Now, I'm obsessed in finding everything about geishas... I was so amazed how Golden described their lifestyle - the way they dress, their make-up, their hairstyles. I've been wanting to read the novel but haven't had the time to do it. During the Christmas vacation, I see to it that I finished the book since I know they will be showing the movie soon. Of course, I would like to read the book first to see if the movie would deliver it well. Visit their site and view the trailer.

Speaking of movies, I saw Beautiful Boxer last week and it was really, really, really great! It's based on a true story about a gay Muay Thai Boxer who mastered the art of kickboxing so he could help his family, and achieve his ultimate dream of becoming a woman. This movie is very inspiring and truly one of a kind. Watch it! This movie is highly recommended and has won various movie awards from all over the world. Definitely on my top ten must-see-movie.
